1. This is 1882 DCLI naming, there can be no question about it - see here. The two regiments received their medals and stars on the same parade (see the story repeated here, and were obviously based close to each other at the time. The other surviving 19th Hussars 1882 Stars show two main styles of regimental naming, one of which is also seen on an 1884 Star to the regiment, suggesting that those named in this style were all named long after 1882. I wonder if this chap wandered over to the DCLI barracks one evening shortly after the medal parade, saw the infantry stars being named up and said, "Here, do mine while you're at it!"?
